INTRODUCING

Storytelling 101

Create your epic tale.

Course Description

We all have great stories in our heads -- the ones that will be New York Times Best Sellers or help us win that Academy Award. But before your story becomes a famous novel or screenplay, you should get the basic structure down first.

To help organize your thoughts, we’ll follow the classical structure of The Hero's Journey, popularized by the American mythologist, Joseph Campbell. So many of the stories we have come to know and love (Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, Goodfellas) follow this basic structure. It has stood the test time and we think it’s the perfect way to start building your story.

Your Hero’s Journey will be a 14 lesson course, taking you through the following storytelling elements:

Ordinary World
Call to Adventure
Refusal of the Call
Meeting with the Mentor
Crossing the First Threshold
Tests, Allies, Enemies
Approach to the Inmost Cave
Ordeal
Reward
The Road Back
Resurrection
Return with the Elixer
No more waiting around.
Now is the time for your story to be told!
