We all have great stories in our heads -- the ones that will be New York Times Best Sellers or help us win that Academy Award. But before your story becomes a famous novel or screenplay, you should get the basic structure down first.
To help organize your thoughts, we’ll follow the classical structure of The Hero's Journey, popularized by the American mythologist, Joseph Campbell. So many of the stories we have come to know and love (Star Wars, The Wizard of Oz, Goodfellas) follow this basic structure. It has stood the test time and we think it’s the perfect way to start building your story.
Your Hero’s Journey will be a 14 lesson course, taking you through the following storytelling elements:
